Ultrasonic leak detector OBSERVER-i
OBSERVER-i responds to airborne ultrasound generated by high pressure gas leaks in open and well-ventilated areas.
Key features:
- Artificial neural network (ANN) is able to distinguish noise from real gas leakage and suppress false alarms
- Senssonic ™ patented self-diagnosis technology ensures trouble-free operation
- Uninterrupted operation; inspection and calibration performed by one person
- Stainless steel case AISI 316L
- Explosion proof design (Ex-d)
Gas leak and acoustics
- Gas molecules move from high pressure to low pressure
- Whistling sound
- Acceleration of the gas flow creates a " white noise" consisting of sound perceived by humans and ultrasound
- Acoustic detectors filter out audible sound and only respond to sound with a frequency of 25 - 50 kHz - far from the sound that a person can hear
- Gas leakage noise proportional to flow rate
Applications of ultrasonic gas leak detectors
- Instant detection of flammable gas leaks
- High pressure gas installations
- Ventilated and open air areas
- Explosive areas
- Stationary installations
Generations of ultrasonic gas leak detectors
First generation | Second generation | Third generation |
- Simple analog high-pass filters
- Suppression of low-frequency acoustic noise
- Trigger levels depend on background noise
- Detection range is reduced in high noise areas
| - Recognition of one pattern
- Each detector after installation must go through a training process
- Suppresses only certain acoustic background noise
- Trigger levels are still required
- Changing the background noise signature can lead to false alarms
- New training needed
| - Uses Advanced Neural Network (ANN) technology
- ANN algorithms are pretrained with real gas leak and background noise signatures
- No trigger levels required
- Maximum coverage in all areas
- Plug and play system and no re-training required
